赤ちゃん達は、まねっこが好きであり得意でもあります。

Babies like to pretend and are also good at it.

時には、何になりきっているのか

分からなかったりもしますよね。

Sometimes we can’t tell what they are being.

ベビーサインがあれば分かる！

そんなエピソードをご紹介します。

Here is an episode about Babysigns and pretend play.

1歳の息子と公園に出かけたある日、

One day, my 1 year-old son was at a park with me.

その公園には細い側溝がありました。

There was a small gutter there.

その側溝に足を踏み入れ沿って歩き出した

息子。

He stepped in it and started to walk along.

何やら両手を動かしているから、

息子が何になりきっているのがすぐに

分かりました。

It was easy to tell what he was being,

because I saw his hands motions, which is his Babysigns.

左右の手をそれぞれ腰の横に構え、くるくる回しています。

He placed his each hands on his right and left of his waist and moved them around.

そうしながら進み続けました。

He got going and kept doing that.

私が「電車さんだね！」と声をかけると

I said to him, 「You must be a train!」

息子はにっこり笑いうなずきました。

He grinned and nodded.

息子の嬉しそうな表情から、伝わった！という喜びの気持ちを感じました。

His happy face told me how happy he was when we understood each other.

まだ話せない赤ちゃんでもサインがあるから分かり合える、そんな瞬間でした！
